Pioneer 8's is under the instruction of Shannon Siegel.  Dancing for over 30 years, and instructing for 20, Shannon is passionate about sharing her dance form with anyone who is willing to give it a try. Her precision execution of dance steps during class makes learning easy, and her relaxed attitude makes the class fun and non-judgmental.  Students are not graded or evaluated during class, and advance at their own pace.  Instruction is geared toward student's desires and levels, and can vary from week to week, depending on who arrives.

Who We Are

How We Learn

Pioneer 8's is a non-profit organization that focuses on preserving the history and supporing the continuation of America's folk dance.

The club teaches percussive dance, an evolutionary and revolutionary dance form that is rooted in the history of America. Evolving alongside American Tap, stemming from the fusion of Irish immigrant dance steps with those of African slaves, mimicking drum beats with their feet, clogging has revolutionized the dance community.  Clogging steps center around the downbeat of the music, and since there is a limited set of beginning level steps, clogging is a fun recreational dance style that has developed a sense of community.  Without the confines of a traditional dance studio, teachers have been able to keep the cost of lessons low.

Come join us for fun, excercise, and friendship!

Only $7 per night.  If you pay in advance for the month, it is only $5 per night.  The fee covers you for the whole night, so if  you would like to stay for another level, you are welcome to.

This is much more affordable than a tap class at a studio, compare at $20+ for one level class session at a dance studio.
